ORIGINAL To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Aml/LG23.8.26. X8380 X5380 FRAMES. Replying to DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M19.7.26. The frame was supported at the centre lines of the axles, and levelled up. A lifting Jack was placed under the off-side front dumb iron, and by this means the front end of the frame was raised. When the near-side front dumb iron was just on the point of moving, the distance the O.S. had already moved was measured. This being the deflection. The same procedure was then repeated at the rear end of the frame. The mean of the O.S. and N.S. was taken :- 40/50 HP. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. Deflections :- Front .820" Rear 1.030" Weight of frame 308 lbs. 20 HP. CAR. Deflections:- Front 1.23" Rear 2.10" Weight of frame. 224 lbs. The 20 HP. figures are not very satisfactory because the O.S. and N.S. of the frame do not coincide very closely. We will repeat the test as opportunity occurs.
