X6082 H/E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from PN.{Mr Northey} Copy to Sa. He. PN.{Mr Northey}1/WT19.2.31. Headlamp Wiring. Thank you for your By5/C.17.2.31. I note that your tests have shown that a drop of 1/5th volt only was obtained on the headlamps when measured at the end of our standard wiring, with the lamps lit. As this small drop of voltage would certainly not account for, or justify any criticism as to falling off of the light, I am pointing this out to Sa. and suggesting that there may have been some other contributory cause for giving him and the representative of Jos. Lucas the impression they had. Sa. in Sa1/B.6.2.31 stated that "when the batteries were connected direct to the headlamps with a thicker wire there was a big improvement in the light". he also stated that the representative of Lucas had already discovered this fault on other Rolls-Royce cars. The matter is therefore still a bit in the air at present. PN.{Mr Northey} | ||
