CJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4086 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG23.5.22. 6-GOSHAWK-11. With reference to the attached ref. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}3/LG18.5.22. 6-Goshawk-11 should be at Laval on Monday 29th.inst. At the present time this car cannot be run owing to the failure of the cylinder head as reported in Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}'s report of the 20th.inst. We have however this moring sent off a new cylinder head which should reach Laval tomorrow. The car, therefore, will be running order again at the end of the week. We have asked Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} to continue running 6-Goshawk-11 in France over the 10,000 miles, if the present lock-out position continues. If the car is retumed nothing much could be done with it, and we already have one car in pieces which it was intended to run for another 10,000 miles to complete the 20,000 miles. We think it is very necessary indeed to run the cars for 20,000 miles because it is noticeable that most of the failures have occurred on the cars after 8/9000 miles running. If we are going to guarantee the cars for three years, 20,000 miles only represents 130 miles per week approximately. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
