Confirming our conversation with you at the Squash Court on Wednesday :- (1) JUNIOR RATIONALISED GEARBOX CHANGE SPEED MECHANISM. It seems very doubtful to us whether it will be possible to get a satisfactory side-change gear lever on a car the width of a Rover 10. We should therefore like to go straight for the column control on the Myth box. We cannot believe that with this size of box it will be necessary to have a vacuum assisted change. We accept that we shall not be able to put the small column control into production until we also have the same means of operation on the senior range. However, if the war stopped today it would be two months before we should get the Myth into production, so that we should have time to get the senior column control working satisfactorily and produced for reasonable figures. (2) SPARE WHEEL AT THE REAR. We observe from your analysis that we shall gain nothing by having a spare wheel in the lid{A. J. Lidsey} of the boot. (4) UNIVERSAL COUPLING BETWEEN DYNAMO AND COOLANT. MARINE UNIT. We are carrying out tests to ascertain how much out of truth the Lucas dynamo casing is, compared with the armature shaft. On principle, however, we strongly object to providing universal joints in order to cater for inaccurate machining. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
