TO HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} ORIGINAL R4/M17.5.23. 40/50. LUBRICATION OF CLUTCH SPIGOT. In reply to your HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}6/LG10523. I have definite-ly said that I do not agree to altering these from our stan-dard valve and wick pattern. (1) My reason is that thousands are in use, it has always been reliable, and I do not know how Springfield dare make such an alteration without my approval. (2) It will cause endless confusion in instructions as we were experiencing at Nice with American chassis. (3) There probably will not be a very large number of this design made. The difference in cost will not there-fore be material. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
