[Handwritten top left] 100th meeting [Handwritten top right] X446 REPORT ON TRIAL RUN ON 25/30 H.P. SUNBEAM December 16th 1911 6 Cylinder. On the road when on direct drive this car was very nice and under all ordinary running conditions the engine was very soft and flexible. There appeared to be no periods and the engine had a nice silky feeling. The engine did not seem very powerful and the slow running was bad, ie the car would not run at less than 15 miles per hour without chunking in the drive. The absence of engine vibrations, the driver explained was due to extra strong crankshaft and rotary balancing. The slow running question is evidently a big trouble to them as they appear to be still experimenting on this car for same, several hot water jackets being fitted on the carburettor and induction pipe etc which the driver explained would satisfactorily cure the bad slow running. [Handwritten in left margin] Confirmatory Axle good ( bevel gears ) could be heard under all conditions of running but did not materially increase its noise under power when picking up as does the R.R. The gear box I should say was V.{VIENNA} Fair Clutch, leather cone type, generally I should say about same as R.R. Springing was bad appeared to have no flexibility and were too strong.
