HELICAL ENGINE GEARS TO OLD TYPE 40/50 CHASSIS.

The Repair Dept. at Derby have found that it is a great improvement to fit the bronze helical gears on to old cars with paper gears. We have had a set of these gears running on the Shop Car at Derby (1731) for 8000 or 9000 miles. We found on examination they were in perfect condition. The gears that are being used are the same design as we are using at present on the 40/50. The only difference is the pinion on the crankshaft has been altered to adapt these gears to the old type spring drives. We recommend that where customers are prepared to pay for the changing of the gears, this work should be carried out.
