(2) (1) Use .625 dia. pipe instead of .750 brazed into a nipple at top end to fit existing union. (2) Make pipe of shape shewn to provide flexibility. (3) Tap induction pipe casting .812 dia. thread to suit suitable screwed connection brazed to pipe having square shoulder, and if necessary metal packing washer to position pipe. It is expected that the reduction in the pipe diameter and its increased length will not apparently reduce the jacket heating effects with the presence of the ex-butterfly valve. Also if the exhaust flow from the latter half of the engine with the butterfly closed is too much throttled there is always a remedy. These are matters for test. We should be glad if you could prepare a scheme on these lines for criticism and final submission to R.{Sir Henry Royce} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
