[Handwritten: X3579] To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. Autovac Manufacturing Co. BJ1/E7/4/27 Mr.Gastall of the Autovac Manufacturing Co. called on me this morning in regard to some correspondence we have had on a commercial matter. In the course of conversation I mentioned that I had formed the opinion that our cars fitted with the Autovac system do not run as satisfactorily at slow speeds as before the Autovac was fitted. Mr.Gastall says he does not know of any reason for this. Will you kindly let me know whether you know of any reason, my point being that, when a RR car is in perfect condition, it should run perfectly smoothly at all speeds. It did so with the pressure feed. The impression I have formed is that it does not do so always with the Autovac. I am talking about when the main petrol tank is reasonably full and when the car and the Autovac are in perfect running order. BJ.
