X.2894 13th Feb. 1920. X.2894 - TUNGSTEN POINTS FOR BATTERY IGNITION L.1818 Tungsten points made from U.S.A. rivets were fitted on standard R.R. distributor unit and run for six hours at 500 R.P.M. of contact breaker cam, and with a "running" current of 1.00 amperes. Throughout the test there was even firing at the standard 5 mm. test gaps. The "points" are not so well "bedded" as the platinum contacts - no doubt due to this metal being difficult to "work". This, however, did not seem to effect the even sparking at the gaps; and the "points" are now ready for prolonged test on car. R.C.S.J. | ||
