1028 Experimental Department 4th February 1937. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}6/AP. Walker Steel Works Ltd., Mary Street Steel Works, SHEFFIELD 1. Dear Sirs, We should like to thank Mr. Wolstenholme for his kindness in visiting us yesterday, and for pointing out that the quantity of metal you proposed to give us in each of the liners we have been enquiring about, was not excessive, and that the high price was due to a high rate per cwt. Until yesterday we had thought that the iron we now use, being made in an electric furnace, was about the most expensive on the market, but in this we were evidently mistaken. As our chassis production costs are high we regret we are not in a position to use a more exspensive iron in our drums and we will have to get over our scoring trouble some other way. Thanking you for your king attention in this matter, We are, Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
