BZ/WS c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 402. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/G.25.8.38. BENTLEY 111. CHASSIS. TEMPORARY SCHEME FOR REAR AXLE. Please receive herewith blueprint of G.CD.343 shewing a temporary rear axle for use on the Bentley 111 chassis intended for France (subsequently the 40 m/m bearing will be incorporated in a final design of rear axle.) A smaller ball bearing (40 x 90 x 23) is to be used replacing the former bearing (45 x 100 x 25). To enable the existing housing to be used, we have indicated a packing/ring and washer inside the housing, and the thrust ring and large distance piece have been modified to suit the smaller diameter axle shaft. The axle tube and suspension bracket are slightly modified. We have introduced a Belleville washer between the thrust ring and the bearing housing, the particulars of the washer being given on the scheme. Prints have already been handed to you for advance detailing, but as some additional notes have now been added, these should be replaced by fresh ones. BX. | ||
