Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr. Hives Thanks for your letter to hand this morning with copy of communication you have received from Messrs. Claudel Hobson Ltd. As regards the points they mention, I would refer to these as under:- 1. Transverse passage in the throttle. We do not use this. 2. The variable datum boost control. As we do not supply this boost control it does not enter. 3. Ignition timing. Same remarks apply. 4. Over-ride on the boost control. This point is fully covered by a patent taken out in 1917 by one of the staff at Farnborough. The further remarks they make concerning their own carburetter do not refer to our apparatus.
