ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. INSTRUCTIONS. To: E.F.C. Order No: P.B 44. Customer's No: X 2894. Test of Tungsten Points 4AG. With Paper Condenser. These points were run in conjunction with a paper condenser of .37mf capacity, the remainder of the apparatus being standard, and running under standard conditions i.e. .5 make ratio, 500 revs of distributor, on 6.5mm gaps. At the end of 65 hours running, although sparking was still good on the gaps, the points were so bad, it was decided to go no further with the test. The points were deeply discoloured, while a large pip had formed on the screw point with a corresponding cavity on the blade point. It was noticed that on starting up, flashing occurred at the contact points and missing on the gaps. This continued until the ballast resistance warmed up, and the primary current was reduced. Signed: Cont'd This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
