confirming the adjustments to the armD. When resetting point gap only, on no account touch screws G, H and J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} The graduations on the Delco-Remy synchronizing tool represent engine degrees. The breaker arms must not be out of synchronism more than 2 engine degrees. The spring tension on the points should be between 15 and 17 ozs.

Lubrication.

Smear the cam with a little mobil grease No. 2. Soak the felt pad, underneath the rotor, with a few drops of light machine oil, also apply one drop of this oil to the breaker arm pivots.

Replenish the grease cap in the distributor side with Price's Belmoline H.M.P. Grease. This cap should be given a turn every 500 miles.

Timing the distributor to the engine.

To time the distributor to the engine, lift cover plate situated at the front of the clutch casing, just above the starter motor. Turn engine until the mark T.D.C. on the flywheel registers in the centre of the hole in the casing, in which case No. 1 piston is approaching its firing stroke. The rotor arm of the distributor should now point approximately to No. 1 electrode of the distributor cap. Loosen nut and screw of the clamping plate at the base of the distributor and turn the body until the breaker points just open. The opening of the points may be determined by watching the ammeter needle. Then tighten clamping plate screw. Since a friction damper is used for driving the valve gear and auxiliaries, it is important that the engine is turned from the flywheel end when timing. The most accurate method is to jack up a rear wheel and turn the engine through the wheel.

Cleaning.

Clean both inside and outside of distributor cap with a clean duster. The surface of the contact points should be of a light grey colour. Clean, if necessary, with a smooth oil stone until the raised portion of the metal is removed. Dirt and grease on the points must be avoided.
