CHATEAUROUX GARAGE

After several visits and lengthy conversations with the owner of the new garage, Madame Lauvergnat finally consented to put the rent down to 1/3 of the pre-war arrangements, and to leave the signing of the lease in abeyance . She however remarked that it is to be definitely understood that this is being granted only during the period of hostilities , and also, on condition that we in turn authorize her to make use of the hall of the garage, if required for any purpose.

As you know, we occupied the new premises since the beginning of Sept. last, and up to the present no rent has been paid to her. Will you be kind enough to approve of the memo to Od. requesting him to effect payment for and on behalf of R.R.

THE CORNICHE

The Carrosserie du Centre have completed all they could possibly do in the way of repairs to the damaged body of the above. A lot of detail work of course still needs attention, but this cannot be executed without the chassis. Having informed them that there is no likelihood of the chassis coming back to France owing to the present circumstances, the coachbuilders are prepared to have the body packed and despatched to England, but they are anxious to know how they stand with the Insurance Company re payment for repair work.

The attention of Ps. was drawn at the time of the two accidents and estimates of the coachbuilders were duly submitted to him, but I believe that nothing has been done yet owing to mobili-sation and what not. I have been twice to see Ps. at the British Hos - pital, but owing to his ill health, he did not want to be bothered on the matter . He has however, asked me to go round and see him again next Monday the IIth instant when he hopes to look into this more thoroughly.
