-2- The speed range is thought to be one of the major problems, since 20 wipes per minute is about as slow as it is desirable to go, and if we choose this speed for 10 m.p.h. we find that we have 162 wipes per minute at 80 m.p.h. this figure being twice as fast as the elctrical wiper operates, and some means will have to be found for quietening the mechanism at these high speeds. In fact, Messrs. Lucas definitely dislike operating at the higher speed, and we should like a test making with variable resistance in the circuit of the electric wiper, to determine the slowest speed that we think compatible for town work.
