STAMP: SH 20 IX 1922 FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to Ed.{J. L. Edwards} c. to WOH. c. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} [Handwritten Note Start] FWB PNEU. TYPE STOPPED BY R [Handwritten Note End] FOUR WHEEL BRAKES. [Handwritten] X9940 X4561 We understand from Mr. Royce that he does not wish to proceed with the pneumatic brakes. We wish to advise you that this will cancel the brake cylinders, indicator cylinder, throttle trip, which we have sent you, but that the extended counter-shaft for the throttle control shewn on the drawing of the throttle trip will still be required to suit the revised pedals, also the run of the operating cables along the car will be substantially as shewn on N. sch. 1330. We shall send you a further quarter size arrangement of the new brake device as soon as possible. In case air brakes may be experimentally revived we send herewith N.sch.1339, shewing the air cylinder which will complete the information absolutely necessary for fitting air brakes. * Since writing the above R.{Sir Henry Royce} has indicated that the air brakes may be used to test 4 wheel braking on the first experimental car, so that it will be desirable to carry on with them for the present.
