X4553a Hotel de France Chateauroux Indre To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. 21.3.33. We have received your telegram: EXAMINE DAMPER LEVERS FOR SLACKNESS ARE PISTONS(FITTING?) HITTING CYLINDER HEAD There is .027" clearance between the piston top and top of cylinder block. The gasket is .010 thick making a total clearance of .037" We have examined damper levers for slackness and found neither the rocker shaft bolts or lever bolts slack. The lubrication of the control ballends was ample. The two pistons arrived this morning. The lighter one of the two has been fitted. TORQUE REACTION DAMPERS. These were found saturated with oil. The friction load was N.S. 2.5lbs, O.S. 3 lbs. REAR ENGINE FEET. The engine has apparently settled down as we found the bottom rubbers had .010" clearance between the bracket and rubber. The cutout control rod fowls the servo drum when cutout is opened. The engine has been erected and will be ready for running by morning, mileage will be continued after light running in of new piston. G.W.H. | ||
