Chassis No. 17-TM - The Prince of Wales.

With reference to C2/Cl.10.24 which deals with the question of fitting Front Wheel Brakes to chassis 17-TM, and also converting it in other respects to a "U" series chassis, it was at first considered that in order to save time it might be advisable to adopt the suggestion of S. to use one of the chassis which is at present being converted, in place of converting at the moment chassis 17-TM.

Further consideration has shown that this would not be the best procedure to adopt in the present case. In view of the prospective ownership of chassis 17-TM the best Units which could be obtained were put into this chassis, and as it has several features which are not common to other chassis of the same series, which if changed over to another chassis would involve a considerable amount of labour and possibly some difficulties, it has been decided to carry out the whole of the conversion work on chassis 17-TM and return it to the Coachbuilders as early as possible.

We anticipate that the chassis will be on test about the end of this week.

There are two matters, however, which require special attention, and these are - the new Front Springs, and the spare petrol tank which is to be fitted on the Dash.

We have already asked BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to favour us with the correct spring poundages, and for information regarding the special petrol tank.

As regards the Front Springs, we shall be pleased to know if you are agreeable to the Experimental Dept. handing over to us for this chassis a pair of the correct poundage latest type Front Springs.

We are treating this as a most urgent job, and are working day and night on it.
