BENSPORT BRAKE ADJUSTMENT.

FRONT.

3.500 / .365 cam.

1 Notch of 6° = .370 at end of 3.500 lever.
= .019 at shoe centre.

Initial setting of front brakes .400 at end of 3.5 lever or .021 at shoe centre.

Brakes can be adjusted when movement exceeds .770

REAR.

Overall ratio pedal to cam is 29.

.019 wear at shoe centre is equivalent to 1.100 at pedal. For uniform wear of brakes allround they should be adjusted when pedal has lost 1.100 and the front brakes can then be taken up 1 notch.

Initial setting of rear brakes
5.750 threaded for adjustment.

.650 at end of 5.750 lever = .022 at shoe centre, accounting for movement of pedal of 1.25". Losses in servo will bring this to about 2".

Pilot shoe is set .007 - .008 both front and rear.

Brake clearances specified at end of levers are movement required to bring the main brake shoe into contact with the drum, i.e. includes movement of the pilot shoe.
