MODIFICATIONS TO CHANGE GEAR LEVER.

Further to our HDY{William Hardy}1/M28.3.33. we now send

N. schs. 3674/75., which deal with the side movement of the lever in the gate.

The idea of a spring plunger in the lever originated with R.{Sir Henry Royce} but the design has not yet been criticised, so may be altered later.

It will be seen that the reverse catch is presed sideways and will probably be prevented from rattling when in top and 3rd. speeds without the need for an extra plunger, as shewn on N. sch. 3672.

We have provided a side load of 5 lbs. which assists the centralising spring and only operates after the lever has entered the gate notch. If 5 lbs. is insufficient the load can be increased up to say 10 lbs. without the spring rating becoming too high.
