1116 HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/ML.30.3.40. This is to confirm the telephone message passed on to you by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS{C. Trot Salt - Carburation} on Thursday last, that some crank-shafts forgings have now arrived from America and have been delivered to the Factory. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is anxious to get one or two of these shafts machined as quickly as possible, in order to ascertain whether the quality of steel is satisfactory or not. He is of the opinion that you will be able to deal with the matter more quickly than Sft.{Mr Swift} As the forgings are undersized it will be necessary to take special precautions setting them up and we attach a copy of a note which we sent to Sft.{Mr Swift} on the subject. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} The information regarding the centreing of these crankshafts was given to Sft.{Mr Swift} in our Memo. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/JH.4.3.40. | ||
