Attention Mr F.{Mr Friese} Ll Smith.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 27th instant, and note that you are passing us an order for two 10" Driven Plates, same to be fitted with Ferodo RAD-11 Friction Facings.

It will of course be necessary under the circumstances for us to obtain this material direct from Messrs Ferodo, and an order is being passed to them accordingly; as these Driven Plates are urgently required, any assistance you can give us in urging forward the Friction Facings would be appreciated.

We have noted your comments in regard to the type of rivetting adopted by us when the rivet passes through both facings, and in reply would advise that this type of rivetting is quite common practise and is being used by us on all our larger series of Clutches, and so far has given complete satisfaction; under the circumstances we would prefer to refrain from expressing an opinion in connection with your suggestion of utilising a washer under the tail portion of the rivet in the absence of actual tests. We are, however, arranging to carry out some experiments in this regard, and will communicate further with you.

Yours faithfully,
BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED,
