Re 200 HP Aero Engine. Magneto Drive.

With reference to the broken leather on the magneto drive, I quite agree that the fabric might be tried, but I think the leather has been destroyed either through our want of design, or the correct style of leather being used, or that the magneto was considerably out of centre or out of line. I am inclined to think it was out of line, which was the cause of the trouble. At the same time, the leather joint should be made with the two bolts radial instead of circumferential, and the edges of the steel work so rounded off as to only bear hard in the middle near where the holes are, and have rounded edges so as to permit the leather to start bending fairly close.

Examine the proportions of the more important coupling of this type used by the Daimler and other people.
