Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Hg. & Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to R.R. of America. EFC4/T25.11.21. X.3398 - P & R BATTERY FOR 40/50 CAR. L.4314P. P & R BATTERY FOR "GOSHAWK". We have now received from Messrs. Peto & Radford:- 3 of their type BD.{Mr Berend}11 60 ampere hour capacity batteries for the 40/50. 2 " " BD.{Mr Berend}7 batteries for the Goshawk (but with altered assembly of cells as per sketch, to suit the dimensions provided for the box for the rear of frame battery position). [Diagram of battery cell layout] All these batteries have been sent in dry and one of each kind is now undergoing first charge. We have to-day had a visit from Mr. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} A.{Mr Adams} N. Minchin of this Company, in connection with these batteries and he brought with him various samples which we now send along to Mr. Royce for his inspection. These comprise:- 1. Cell box of their special non-crackable material similar to the box used in making up the BD.{Mr Berend}11 battery. These boxes, unlike ebonite boxes, can be dropped on the floor and kicked about without being cracked. 2. Battery case with separate compartments for their 6-volt Bull Pup accumulator, as illustrated on back page of the pamphlet attached. It was considered that Mr. Royce would be interested in this moulding and the possibility of a box with 6 compartments being moulded in the same way for a larger battery. This particular 6-volt battery was said to be in great demand for very small cars. 3. Sample terminal lug with butterfly terminal and celluloid sleeve for celluloid accumulators. The | ||
