Cox - Advertising Manager}4/KW30.5.30. It is very difficult to answer Mr. Brown's questions without knowing the cars which he is comparing with the Rolls-Royce; for instance, with the smaller engine, one expects to go farther without decarbonising. It is possible that if a car was run on dry, dusty roads there would be an advantage with an air cleaner but on the present tarred roads we should expect the difference to be very small. We have not found any advantage with using the American type oil cleaners. If you wish, you could point out to Mr. Brown that Phantom cars which are produced in America are fitted with air cleaners and also special oil cleaners but there has been no noticeable difference in the amount of carbon.
