395. HEP/LW.4981 W.M.Cowen, Esq., Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited, 14-15, Conduit Street, LONDON. W.1. 12th February, 1935. Dear Mr. Cowen, Following my visit on the 23rd January and my letter of the 30th January, in view of the matter which you raised regarding the relative riding qualities of the MA.2. as opposed to the "90" pattern, we have carried out careful tests in this direction and I feel that our findings may be of interest, as I understood you also intended to conduct tests of your own on this subject. I feel that I cannot do better than attach in its entirety our Technical Dept.'s report, together with accelerometer records which were obtained on the tests. I should like to confirm that very elaborate precautions were taken to prevent the driver or occupants of the car being aware of the tyres fitted at the time the tests were carried out, and the impressions which the occupants of the car gained were recorded in writing immediately following the tests. I think you may agree that the very close similarity of the accelerometer records tends to show that if any difference exists it is not readily recordable scientifically and that the whole question is one of personal impression. It is hoped that this information may be of interest and we should be very pleased to receive your own impressions on this subject. Yours very truly, AC Dives | ||
