HEAD OFFICE AND FACTORY: INCHINNAN, RENFREWSHIRE INDIA TYRE & RUBBER COMPANY LTD. MILEAGE DEPARTMENT (AREA "B") 80 CLAPHAM ROAD LONDON, S.W.9 TELEPHONES: RELIANCE 2662/3 OUR REF. R/WBT. YOUR REF. 3rd December, 1935. W.A. ROBOTHAM, ESQ., Experimental Department, Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., D E R B Y. Dear Robotham, Further to our conversation at Derby, I have now heard from Mr. Worth and enclose herewith a copy of his memo. to me, which I think will be of interest to you? You will note he is of the opinion that a 6.00-17 tyre would really be the most suitable, the effective radius being practically the same as the 5.50-18, and owing to the fact that he thinks the weight of this cover might be reduced. I should be glad to know if you would like us to send you some tyres of that size for trial purposes; and if you could let us know the weight of a Bentley wheel for Mr. Worth, I should be very grateful. You will see from the last paragraph of his memo. that he thinks it probable that it will be definitely decided to have the silent tread on the Aero Cushion tyres, which will, of course, include the 6.00-16 and 6.50-16. The 6.00-17 is not an Extra Low Pressure tyre and, therefore, would have the silent tread in any case. Yours sincerely, Rothes- | ||
