Many thanks for your various notes.

I can appreciate the difficulty of the heat shield tests and do not think it is worth while persevering further with it.

With regard to your maximum speed test, we have now carried out a series of comparisons on Brooklands between the S.U. and semi-expanding carburetter and we attained a lap speed of 83.7 MPH. with the cut out closed and 88.1 MPH. with the cutout open with the semi-expanding against 84.13 MPH. with the cutout closed and 91 MPH. with the cutout open on the S.U. As we have previously pointed out to you, you will not be much better off with the cutout closed than we are with the standard silencer because of the loss in the fishtail. With the cutout open we should expect to get about 88 MPH. but you may do a little better because you have rather a better body for windage.

You will be pleased to hear that the Peregrine is going very well and promises to be an excellent little car. It is sweet running, free from booms and just about as fast as the new 20/25.
