To W.P. from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Bentley Chassis. B.11.AE. Sgl/E14.12.34
Copy to E.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mrs.Smith-Bingham.

A very serious and alarming accident has occurred with this car.

The off side swivel pin fractured, the steering locked and the offside wheel turned under.

Mrs.Smith-Bingham was driving and, whilst they had been travelling fast just before, they fortunately were not doing so at the moment that this occurred. Otherwise probably a fatal accident would have resulted.

The Service Station have dealt with the matter and sent you a report and the parts have been returned to the Repair Dept. at Derby.

I should like you to see them personally and let me hear further after the matter has been investigated.

When I am at Derby I should like to see xxxx the part that broke and also a similar part belonging to a 20/25 and a 40/50.

Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}

PS. Smith-Bingham is a wealthy man who finances H.R.Owen who, as you doubtless know, have showrooms in Berkeley Street and sell a large number of RR and Bentley cars.
