To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from BJ. Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BJ1/H24.11.22. XL4240 INSTRUCTION BOOK. XL4240 X.4403 I have had some correspondence during the last few days with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} concerning radiator shutters on the 20 h.p. I hope your instruction book will make it clear that drivers need not trouble continuously to adjust the shutters to keep the thermometer steady, but that they should endeavour to find the notch of the controlling lever which will keep the water at a good average temperature. Also that they should watch carefully to see that the water does not reach boiling point. This should be specially noted at night, when it is so easy to forget and more difficult to see the thermometer register on the dashboard. Have you considered whether it would not be advantageous to have a far thicker needle on the thermometer dial? I find myself leaning right over to the left to see the thermometer dial. B.J. | ||
