RADIATOR In looking over the design with which R.{Sir Henry Royce} replaces the W.W. scheme for lengthening the shutters and giving a deeper appearance to the matrix, I am very doubtful indeed that the scheme as shown will work out satisfactorily. It looks to me that the vertical water spaces in the matrix have about 2/3rds. of their surface blanked off by the floor of the lower tank being brought up close to the tubes, leaving only a space of .075". In view of the foregoing, I am therefore doubtful that it is safe to bring this in at 'T' series, which you remember you particularly requested me to do. if possible. My view is that it is risky and should be left over. It would appear that since we are going to make a drastic change, there would be an advantage in having the appearance of the car to change at the time the main changes in engine etc. were incorporated. I am sending to DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} a blueprint showing the scheme marked to indicate my criticisms. By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
