YU021 EFC. WD{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}41. 6.3.29. WATFORD IS12 AERO MAGNETOS NOS.98033/4. These two magnetos have now been returned to us after overhaul by Messrs. Norts, to be fitted to type test engine F14-MS-13. We have examined these machines preliminarily and given them a short test on the bench. Both machines functioned O.K. with a slight exception, viz. that No.98034 cut out momentarily at high speeds occasionally on 5.5 mm. gaps due, we consider, to the safety gap operating. This point should be carefully watched on the preliminary engine trial before starting the actual type test, and if necessary we can remove the cover and open out the safety gap a little. We prefer not to disturb the locking of the magneto unless considered really necessary. The electrical tests conducted with 2' plain rubber cables gave low speed figures of :- No.98033 - 130 r.p.m. advance. 195. " retard. No.98034 - 130 r.p.m. advance. 195 " retard. The high speed performance was very good. EFC/H.E.West. | ||
