| -3- Hw/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}V/W.T.3.3.32. Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} (b) Front. The front axle is mounted on semi-eliptic springs that pass through the axle. The section between the springs is > section and out to the pivots is circular. The springs are shackled at the rear. The car as supplied had a toe out of the wheels of 3/16" at the rims. (4) BRAKES. Both the pedal and the lever operate all four brakes. In each brake drum are two aluminium shoes. The drums are steel and have cooling fins. The front and rear brakes are compensated independently but not with respect to one another. The total braking area is 136 sq.ins. and the ratio front to back 50:50. The drum diameter is 12.6" x 1.3" in width. For diagram of brake lay out and cam profile see sketch. (5) STEERING. This is by a four start worm and complete wheel, the box ratio being 6.5:1. The lock of the front wheels is 71°; and the turning circles L 27 feet and R 34 feet. For other particulars see sketch. (6) SPRINGS. Particulars of the springs are as follows :- (a) Front. Length 28" Rating 430 lbs/in. Number of leaves 11. (b) Rear. Length 35" Rating 192 lbs/in. Number of leaves 15. (7) ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. The whole of the electrical equipment which comprises a constant voltage regulated dynamo, sliding armature sequence starter, double breaker battery ignition distributor, and a switchbox mounted on the instrument board, fitted with starter button and red light to warn of the battery not being charged, is supplied by the German Bosch Co. The wiring throughout is covered with Sistoflex sleeving. (8) CHASSIS PARTICULARS. Weight of chassis stated to be 14 1/2 cwt. Weight of complete car 20 1/2 cwt.
