To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} X-62 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}5/KW.12.6.35. B-4 Unit. It is proposed to fit a head giving increased power to Hall's car for this year's T.T. In order to ensure that the engine is reliable with such power we are proposing to run an endurance test on B-4 unit. If we can get through this test with white metal main bearings we want to stick to them. Will you therefore please fit new white metal main bearings to B-4 unit, the intermediates to have a groove 1/10" wide. Will you also please chalk test the pistons, connecting rods, etc., and carefully examine the cylinder head for any signs of failure. The big end bearings have done a good deal of running and as far as we know have not given us any anxiety whatever, so that we can continue with them. We should like to have the engine back as soon as possible. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
