BE/ND c. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} ---/RC.{R. Childs} 6119. 640*. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/G.13.7.38. R.C. WRAITH 111 and BENTLEY 111. DISTRIBUTOR WIRING. Please receive herewith E.CD.796 Modified Front Ignition Tube for Delco Distributor. Wraith 111. The front wing tube to LeC.5638 which is at present being used on production cars, was designed for use with hand controlled distributor timing and aimed at bringing all the wires connected to distributor head to a point above the rotational axis of the distributor. This arrangement when used with a Delco head tends to put rather a heavy side load on the distributor due to the sharp bends in the wire leads. To overcome this trouble we have shortened the front wiring tube as shown on E.CD.796, leaving the wires between the tube and the distributor head with much less strain on the bends, as there is now no need to carry the wires to the axis of the distributor rotation, owing to the hand control being deleted. The wiring tube should be considerably cheaper with the bend in plan of tube deleted, and the overall length of tube reduced. Will you please detail and instruct the new tube to be brought on production as soon as existing material is used up. It might be worth while to cut the existing tubes and form the new bell mouth, and so convert them to the new design if it can be done reasonably. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} should say if he desires this to be carried out on the Wraith engines now being built. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
