16.7.21.

X.4215 - BLERIOT PHI CUTOUT - ADJUSTMENT OF INSTRUMENT.

(1) Adjust back air gap until, with the instrument cold, no inherent vibration takes place at the cutting in voltage at which the instrument is working at the time.

(2) Get the instrument into a warm condition, and, by altering the tension of the main spring, adjust the cutting in voltage to the neighbourhood of the top limit of 14.2 (without altering the back air gap). It is probable that no vibration will now take place at the cutting in point with the instrument in this condition. If it does, very slightly reduce the back air gap to overcome this and again set the main spring to suit the cutting in voltage.

(3) The instrument in a hot condition should now comply, or very nearly comply with our specification.

(4) When the instrument is again cold, take figures in cold condition. It is expected that these will be O.K. or very nearly so.
