If all the energy liberated on firing had immediately been distributed so that the whole system was at the same temperature, that temperature 1½ mins. after firing would therefore have been 23·229 + 10·5 x 0·006 = 23·292° C. The corrected temperature rise is therefore 23·292 - 19·160 = 4·132° C. Heat emitted on combustion = 1932 x 4·132 = 7983 calories. Calorific Value of fuel = Heat emitted / Weight of fuel Cals./grm. = 7983 / 0.942 = 8474 cals./grm. = 8474 C.H.U. per lb. = 15,253 B.T.U. per lb.
