6091 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA. 15th January, 1935. Messrs.L.Weekes (Luton),Ltd., Luton, BEDS. Dear Sirs, We beg to refer to your letter of the 15th ultimo undercover of which you sent us a number of fuses for experimental trial. We have now completed our tests and find that the glass fuse gives us the best results for our particular purpose. We find however, that the gauge of wire with which the glass fuses were loaded was too fine, to permit passing a current of 90 amperes. We had to reload them with 22 S.W.G. tinned copper wire and the fuses loaded with this wire would just blow at 90 amperes. We shall be glad if you will therefore make up for us and forward to us a further dozen of these glass type fuses loaded with 22 S.W.G. tinned copper wire to blow at 90 amperes and we will arrange to pass you an order for them. It was also noticed that the solder had a tendency to melt prematurely on these fuses when carrying a current near to the fusing current, and we suggest that a higher melting point solder would be an advantage in this connection. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
