With Wraith Gear Box in the B.V. chassis, it is not possible to get in the present Wraith governor control unit. In addition to this, it is desired to simplify the present Wraith unit, if found possible, removing the governor and replacing it by a velocity pressure control operating by the shape of the relief valve and the rating of its spring. We have accordingly made G.OD.1184 shewing a pump of the B.V. type controlled by a specially shaped relief valve. The pump instead of being built into the gearbox as on B.V. is put into a separate container, which is bolted to the existing Wraith gearbox and acts as a reservoir for the special Shokol which it is still desired to use in the damper control system. We have shewn a relief valve spring, as well as the shape of the relief valve seat will be determined experimentally. The top cover might finally be a die casting without machining and with a soft joint washer. /but the final spring DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Payne Please note & return this to office for filing.
