Dear Sirs,

H.S/L.O.V. 6/M.A.

A man named Mr James Marchbank of 159 Leith Street, Edinburgh, brought me a carburetter about the beginning of November and gave me his address on a corner of a letter received from you bearing the above reference number. I lent this man Marchbank some money to go and see you and some others about his carburetter. If not too much trouble to you, would you kindly look up your reference number and let me know if in your opinion this man or his carburetter are genuine as I do not know the man personally or anything about him.

Yours faithfully,

P. Balfour-Kinnear
