QUARTERLY COMPLAINTS.

40/50 HP. PHANTOM.

Quarter ending 31.12.28.

| Nature of Complaint. | No. of Cars. | Last Qtr's. Total. | Remarks. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brakes Squeaking. | W. 7. N. 28. P. 3. Total 38. | 39. | Anti-squeak device is now standard on Production. We are finding that in spite of doing everything we know including anti-squeak devices, dust excluders and roughing liners, we can only effect a temporary cure. In some persistent cases we have had to fit new liners and change the brakes drums. Tenoid material is now standardised. |
| Coupling Fabric Failures. | W. 10. N. 3. P. 1. Total 14. | 24. | Improved method of attaching plates now standard on Production. |
| Clutch jaggers and Slipping. | W. 3. N. 14. P. 4. Total 21. | 28. | [Handwritten] We ought to try plate as 20 HP. [End Handwritten] A 50% mixture of oil and paraffin will overcome the jaggers, but if overdone will cause slipping. Phantom clutches appear to require a lot of attention to keep them in a really nice condition. |
| Coil Failures. | W. 7. N. 16. P. -. Total 23. | Not recorded. | Almost all these failures are due to the burning of the primary winding, which was replaced on Series "F.2" - Phantom, and "M" - 20 HP. by the present thicker primary. All the failures recorded are prior to these series, and the later type coil is always used for replacements. |
