FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL. LAL/W23.12.31. X7240 X5240 C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} P. 2. & J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. STEERING COLUMN CONTROLS. We send herewith N. scheme 3394. shewing the latest form of flattened controls for the above, including the incorporation of the headlamp dipping switch control, which were approved by R.{Sir Henry Royce} before he left W.W. It is intended to use them on J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3., and on N. sch. 3400. we shew the appearance on the J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. wheel. R.{Sir Henry Royce} intended that the spring bracket above each lever should have the tail cut off as shewn in the double size plan view, but we think that he would finally have preferred the bracket to go right across in a plain circle, as it will be seen that in the former case either a lump is formed on the lever centre piece, or there is a gap between that centre piece and the next.
