(6) I was driving 19.G.IV. along Osmaston Road in the direction of the Works at a speed of 15-20 M.P.H. A coal lorry in front of me was pulling up prior to turning into Davenport Road and waiting to allow a bus to pass, which was coming in the opposite direction. I applied my brakes with the intention of passing the lorry on the near side but owing to the slippery nature of the road the car wheels locked, front and rear and the car slid forward into the back of the lorry.
