R.{Sir Henry Royce} PARNELL. ALFRETON ROAD, DERBY. Phone: 1958. DAY and NIGHT SERVICE. Our Ref: Racing Dept. R.P./MAH. November 30th 1936. Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., Automobile Engineers, Nightingale Road, Derby. for the attention of Mr. Ives. Dear Sir, We have had a Cylinder Head cast in the Rolls Royce Alloy, R.R.50. This Head is to be used for racing and is a special Twin Cam-Shaft Cylinder Head of our own design. Unfortunately, we are in trouble with this in the way of getting Valve Seats put in. Could you recommend us whether it would be possible to run the Valve direct on to the Alloy Seat without an insert. On the other hand would it be possible for you to undertake to put in these Seats, as you will appreciate, this car is to be used for high speed work, and it may be a good opportunity for your goodselves to experiment as well as to help us. Yours faithfully, p.p. The Standard Garage Co. Wm. Parnell M.I.M.T.,A.M.Inst.B.E Manager.
