ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. SPRINGFIELD, MASS. Y3950 Oy3-E-21026 February 10, 1928 Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives, Mickleover, Near Derby, England. (Personal) Dear Hives: Re Front Springs I would appreciate a personal note from you on our two types of front springs, shackled at the front and shackled at the rear. We have the impression, probably erroneous, that the shackling of the spring at front and pivoting at rear (1) transmits the front wheel shocks more directly to the frame. Therefore is detrimental to riding. (2) Does not improve the steering. Have you any experience with front braking with springs shackled at the rear? Yours very truly, Maurice Olley MO/E | ||
