X 3014/6-RE. NOISY DYNAMOS.

With reference to our conversation with Mr.Breedon on the 8th inst., we were able to demonstrate to him the noise which we were complaining about, which is an electrical hum and only takes place when the dynamo is actually generating, and at a speed of about 600 revs.

Mr.Breedon quite appreciated the noise complained of, but pointed out that he would like us to confirm that this noise still exists with the plain belt drive. We were not able to do this at the time, as we had not a suitable plain belt, nor could he wait for this to be changed, but expressed a wish that he would like our further report on this noise after testing with the plain belt.

We have now tested the same dynamo on the same car with a plain belt, and the noise still exists, the belt not having cured it or altered it in any way.

This point is also confirmed and demonstrated to Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, and EFC, all of whom are quite satisfied that the noise complained of exists with the plain belt fitted.

We should be glad if you will convey this information to Mr.Breedon, as he was rather anxious to know, and is quite prepared to take our word for it.
