1080 704 29th March, 1941. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/EAG.4/ET. Messrs. I.C.I. (Rexine) Ltd., Cheshire. Attention of Mr. Dalby. Dear Mr. Dalby, I was pleased to hear your voice on the telephone yesterday and to know that you are well. Regarding the matter of leather cloth about which I was speaking to you, as explained we are producing a sample car which I am anxious should be trimmed as near as possible with the type of material which I shall suggest is used on production. The colour selected, you will will see is a bit unusual, as per cutting of leather herewith, which is taken from a small kip which Mr. Fred Conolly sent me as a sample. You will see that the grain is of the Luxan family, and I think you have some rollers which are very similar. If you could supply us with sufficient leather cloth for trimming door panels, front seat backs, binding carpets etc., I should be very glad. I appreciate that a job like this is a nuisance to you, particularly at the present time, but I feel sure that you will understand the circumstances and something if you can. As explained to you, the body is not yet built, although it is getting well on the way. We have a few weeks before the material will be wanted. If you can supply the material, perhaps you could send me a small cutting showing the grain that you suggest. Regarding the colour, would you like to run off a few yards as near to theattached pattern as you can get. I would then send a piece of the material to Mr. Fred Conolly and get him to match it. You will appreciate, I am sure that with a colour of this description and for the purpose for which it is being used, it is essential that leather and leather cloth should be a dead match. | ||
