FUTURE DEVELOPMENT.

HIGH POWER HEADS.

Tests will be carried out with a twin-inlet head in aluminium, to compare the effect on rate of pressure rise and detonation, with the cast iron head. Variation in the area of the "throat" connecting the combustion chamber with the cylinder proper, will also be tried out for this same purpose. Provision has been made for still further increasing the size of the exhaust valve. An adaptor is being designed to enable indicator diagrams to be taken at the plug boss by the throat in order to check the rate of pressure rise.

The head in its present form is not suitable for a 6 in-line car engine. Modifications to the head design are in hand to make it suitable for this purpose and a head will be put in hand to test the effect on the performance of these changes.
